I've seen these in many shapes and sizes, from kids names to words of inspiration. Bienvenue saw them too, along with the price tag that came with them. So what did she do? Like any other crafter she went home and figured it out for herself. Now make your own sparkling Holiday decorations for your tree or simply to hang around your house with her easy tutorial. Here's a tip for the frugal, if you have a Dollar Tree in your area, they now sell foam board!

Recycled Gift Tags
I am always on the hunt for cute gift tags. I remember when I was younger and I would always pick out the more expensive ones because they were cuter and my mom would never buy them, she would always buys the bargains ones that got you more for your money. Well the people over at Crafting a Green World can show you how to recycle old greeting cards to make your very own gift tags. They use a craft punch, but you could easily use regular scissors or some decorative pinking shears and a plain old hole punch to create some chic recycled gift tags this year.

People usually tie those red velvet bows on them. Well know you can use her tutorial and make a whole herd of your own using different colored paper and cardboard. You could use patterned scrapbook card stock and have some ultra chic reindeer. This would make an adorable center piece.

So what are you to do? Easy head on over to Beth Millner's Blog and check out her tutorial for her necklace and earring displays. They are handmade, but they look so professional!

MIA
...and know I don't mean the rapper/hip hop chick...I mean me, I've been MIA for a while. I was super duper busy getting ready for my first real craft show on September 19-21. Well of course, I was working right up until the deadline. I was painting clothes and hats the morning of. Some barely even dried before we walked out the door. I tried out some new things for the show and was pleasantly surprised at how they did. There's nothing like the feeling of creating something new and see someone fall in love with it. The overall experience was wonderful. I was pleased with my sales, we had fun, saw friends, drank beer and networked with people. What more can you ask for? I even got a couple of custom orders. Now it's time to get the apartment back in order from all of the confusion and get back to work so I can be ready for next show, which is October 25th in Washington, GA.

It's Officially September
It is now officially September, which means fall is coming, which also means Halloween will be here before we know it. I may be 27 years old, but I am still a kid at heart when. I love contemplating what my costume will be and dressing up. The only difference is that now my candy is of the alcohol variety and not of the sugary variety.
In preparation I have been and will be designing some Halloween inspired creations for my etsy shop. One of my first additions are these Skeleton Hand Barrette/Hair Clips. Apparently these things are a hot commodity and they typically go flying off the shelves. I guess I'll see. I even decided to make them in pink and red, black and silver are coming soon!
Of course once I got my hands on the skeleton hands I couldn't stop there. I had to see what else I could come up with, so I created this fabulous necklace. My I Heart Skulls Necklace features a polymer clay heart with a hand stamped skull and crossbones. How awesome is that?

Bootleg DIY...It Needs to Stop
The world of DIY, or handmade has seriously grown in popularity over the last few years. Unfortunately, that also means that copy cats, bootlegging and misuse of the term DIY has grown as well. There is a certain seller on ebay under the name of skullby-doo, as well as the seller name pasakor9889. You can find them here:http://stores.ebay.com/diy-urban-zip-hoodie-and-hot-stuff and here: http://stores.ebay.com/skullby-doo.
They have attempted to sell things on Etsy, but with the help of some friends we have managed to get them kicked off, but they are back under a new user name and we are once again flagging them to get them kicked off.
Now you may ask, what do they do that's so bad. On Ebay they are selling 235 items and they end every hour. Really, how can one girl do that? She can't, but whole bunch of girls working at a sweatshop in Thailand can. If you look at the actual T-shirts they sell, you wont find those designs anywhere else. It's because they print them locally without permission from your favorite band, which violates copyright and is essentially stealing. They are then assembled in a sweat shop environment. Their buy it now price is less than what it costs a legit seller to buy an unmodified shirt. Lastly, take a good look at it, it's ugly. It really is just a men's shirt with sleeves and a hood sewn onto it. That wont fit nice, you'll look like a troll.
Please don't support these bootleggers. Please support the REAL DIY gals on etsy.com. These knockoff's seriously sour the reputation of DIY. They take sales away from people who are slaving away trying to make a living, not only that they make buyers think that DIY should be as cheap as their items are, which is not so. It takes time and effort to make a great shirt, skirt, pair of pants etc. It also takes money to buy quality products, to create something that isn't a piece of crap.

New Home
I feel so much better about this blog now. I have been a major slacker, which led me to move this blog to a new home with a url that matches. You can find all of my old posts here, http://turnitgirl.blogspot.com, and you will find all of my lovely, much better new and improved posts on this blog.I hope you enjoy it, and I hope that you stick around to see me make it wonderful. Now...I'm off to try and figure out how to beautify this thing!
Slacking and Moving
Ok...so I officially suck at writing a blog, or rather remembering to write a blog. So I will take this post to announce that I will be moving this blog to a new home, http://diyjenellstyle.blogspot.com. I hated that my title and my blog url didn't match, and since I have been such a slacker I decided that I would change things around and give my blog a fresh start so form now on you can check me out at http://diyjenellstyle.blogspot.com.

Jaxynville Rewinds is No More
Well...I have been very slack on keeping this updated. Almost as fast as we started Jaxynville Rewind we shut it down. I simply did not have the time to run two etsy shops. Sometimes I can barely find time to advertise and make updates on my shop much less a second one.
On a lighter note things have been looking up in my etsy shop. I am proud to say that I have sold pieces to customers in the UK, Las Vegas, New York, Australia as well as some other locations. My newest creations, hand painted purses, seem to be doing very well. I have so much fun with these. They are part of my REinvented line.
REinvented is a new eco-sensitive line of clothing, jewelry and accessories created by moi, Jen Ell. My rockin' creativity is combined with sometimes-vintage, sometimes-thrift store finds to create truly unique pieces that can help you move one step closer to a green lifestyle. you can visit my etsy shop to see more REinvented creations!

Fabric on Jen Ell's Revenge
Ok Ok...so I've been slack again. I've been ignoring my blog...*bad Jen Ell*. I've been out of town and I've been working on getting some new things up and going. My bestest bud and I have been working on setting up a vintage shop called Jaxynville Rewind. So far all we have is a Myspace, but we just had a photo shoot last night, so some items will be up soon! For now here is the link to the myspace, so feel free to add us:
http://www.myspace.com/jaxynvillerewind
To show I'm not completely slack I have decided to clear out some of my fabric stash. this was very hard for me to make the decisions because I am a person who is always worried that once its gone I will need it for something, but just look to right at my Etsy Mini to see what I have to offer!

Magazine Ad Clutch - Roberto Cavalli Ad
Here's one of my lovely Magazine Ad Clutches featuring a Roberto Cavalli for Nordstrom Ad. I had seen various people making similar things on craftster, and every time I looked at them I knew that there was a way that I could make it my own, make it cuter and more professional looking. So, after much trial and error I finally developed this method. The ad is just featured on the flap and it is covered in clear vinyl to protect it. The edges are trimmed in black lace for an extra touch of girlie-ness. The entire exterior of the bag is made of a faux snakeskin fabric, lined with nylon and fused plastic bag fabric is used for the interfacing, so there's all kind of recycling taking place in this little jewel.

Featured Seller - Post Designer
Well ladies and gents, I have been ill and have barely wanted to touch a computer. Today I finally rejoined the human race, and when I logged onto etsy this morning I found something that struck my fancy. I have never really been one to like the plushie doll things. Just not my style, but I saw this one this morning and was intriqued. It has a completely different look from all the others that I have seen. The black and white color scheme is so simple, yet so striking, and the detail of the designs is just awesome to me. You should really check out this etsy store for other cute plushies, artwork and jewelry. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9530754

Apple of My Pink Eye Hoodie
How can you not love this fun hoodie? I know I had fun making it. I found the absolutely wonderful black and white apple print fabric and immediately had ideas running through my head. It turned almost exactly as I had planned, which is really good for me. I have a tendency to envision one thing, and end up with some thing different. I knew I wanted it to be a hoodie, but not a traditional hoodie, thus style of the actual hood. It is not attached in the back and over the shoulders, which should be a plus for girls with long hair. This way they can wear the hood up and not have their hair tickling their back. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did making it!

Jen Ell's Revenge on Etsy
I have finally opened my very own etsy shop. I knew I wanted to begin selling my clothing and accessories, but I just wasn't sure if where I was going to do it. I have seen some people sell through myspace, livejournal and ebay, but I just wasn't sure about those options. Etsy looked like the real winner in my book.
It took me a while to get everything set up. I had to create some pieces and quit making stuff for myself. Christmas finally gave me time to do this. I was able to make a hoodie, a dress, 3 purses and 2 hats. I even made a jumper for myself.
I have also found one of my old hobbies and started doing it as well, jewelry making. There are some great new pieces being listed so keep an eye out.
