Who, What Wednesday

Etsy Shop: http://toastrack.etsy.com

Blog: randomquirksblog@blogspot.com

What do you do?

Currently, I’m an unemployed bum, though I prefer the term starving artist. Just graduated university with a fashion marketing degree and am hoping to start a masters in the autumn.

What made you start selling your creations?

Well I already have another shop on Etsy, but my Toast Rack products don’t really fit in with it so I decided to open another shop just for them. I originally joined Etsy after being persuaded by a friend that I should sell my creations.

What is your most likely distraction?

Oh dear, I think that could be just about anything. I’m very easily distracted, hee hee. Not when it counts though. At the moment its ebay – I love buying books off there. Now if only I could get around to reading them…

We all have projects that fail, or don’t come out as planned, tell us about one of yours.

When I was 16, I decided I wanted to make my own clothes. All I can say is that I have big respect for people who sew. I broke many sewing machine needles and I almost took my eye out at one point.

What is your favorite artistic or crafty website?

I could browse through etsy for hours, there are so many talented people out there. I wish I had the money to buy everything on my favourites list.

What is your favorite quote or words of inspiration?

Simple, but “Be yourself”

What advice would give to someone wanting to start selling their creations online?

Do plenty of research and then when you think you’re ready – jump.

If money were no object, what would you be doing right now?

Being able to work full time on Toast Rack would be great. Though I’d probably love to have a round the world trip as well. I love travelling

3 words that best describe you are:

Quirky, determined and kind-hearted

Your 3 guilty pleasures are:

soup (its always soup time), gluing myself to my laptop and trashy chick-lit.

New Etsy Shop Opened

I just opened my newest Etsy shop, Lush Lanyards. I started this shop after everyone at work started buying beaded lanyards and then started asking me if I could make them. So far they have been my best customers, but it is time to branch out. Check out some of my creations below.

DIY: Petal Ruffle Sleeve Top

Love Maegan has done it again with super cute DIY project!

A simple tee, some chiffon and a needle and thread is all it takes to create this cute top. These petal ruffles can also be used for more than just sleeves. They would look fab around a neckline, on a tank, and I could even see them on a skirt. Check it out here.

DIY: Cat Nip Castle

This has got to be one of the coolest pet projects I have ever seen.

The people over a Craftzine threw together some corrugated cardboard, glue and a couple other things to create this fabulous Kitty Wonderland that they can play and sleep on all day. I know my cat would love this. The best part about it is that it doesn't take up much space which is always a plus. See the tute here.

DIY: Rug

The great folks over at Readymade have came up with a great tutorial on how to make your very own felt rug. This would be awesome for my humble, semi-new abode...now I just have to find the time.
